Xgel can be used to clean gums and teeth in babies from birth, and can reduce the build-up of harmful biofilm. Xgel has been formulated to give the minimum daily amount of Xylitol required for dental benefits. Xgel also contains calcium and phosphate to promote healthy teeth and gums. Unlike toothpaste Xgel is safe to swallow – no need to rinse. Contains no fluoride, detergents, grit, colourants and preservatives.
Tastes great and encourages good oral hygiene practices.
Although not strictly a breastfeeding product, dental care in babies is important from the very start. Breastmilk is antiseptic, and will help to maintain oral hygiene. But bacteria can still be introduced into the mouth through dummies, bottles, etc. Babies can also get an overgrowth of Candida in the mouth, which can spread to mom’s nipples.
The American Academy of Paediatrics recommends cleaning babies’ mouths with a cloth and cooled down boiled water. However, Xgel solution should definately be considered if a baby has had a thrush infection, when they start putting their hands in their mouths, start teething or start drinking formula milk or eating solid foods.
